Quality Manager

The Company
  • Our client is a young, online pet nutrition service that provides tailor-made food, designed to deliver perfectly optimised nutrition for dogs.
  • They use a brief nutritional consultation to perfectly suit a monthly supply of dog food to each individual dog’s specific needs.
  • They have created a totally new product and commercial offering to the consumer goods World within the pet food market.
  • With an original investment of £5m in December 2013 from a highly successful and experienced team, there is a reasonable Forecast expectation RSV of £60m within 5 years (UK Only).
  • Tails was started by Graham Bosher, who was one of the founders of Lovefilm (later sold to Amazon) and later one of the founders of Graze.
  • Tails is run by James Davidson, also a founding partner, who was previously Supply Chain Director at Innocent Drinks, James has joined to make Tails a market leading business. He was responsible for the same project with Innocent.
  • The volume of operation at Tails doubles on a fairly regular basis and the levels of growth make this an amazing company to be a part of, especially considering the share options and financial success of the company.

Responsibilities:
  • Understand customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes
  • Devise and review specifications for products or processes working closely with product team.
  • Set requirements for raw material or intermediate products for suppliers and monitor their Compliance and performance.
  • Supervise inspectors, technicians and other staff and provide guidance and feedback with corrective actions.
  • Oversee all product development procedures to identify deviations from quality standards
  • Efficient approval and rejections process organised with suppliers.
  • Keep accurate documentation and perform statistical analysis of customer feedback.
  • Solicit feedback from customers to assess whether their requirements are met
  • Submit detailed reports to appropriate executives

Requirements
  • Proven experience as quality manager, leading a small team and working very closely with 3rd party manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Conscientious and responsible
  • A keen eye for detail and an autonomous, results driven approach
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to develop relationships internally and with suppliers.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • In depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards
  • Excellent math abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods
  • BSc in food related scientific subject
  • Experience in EU Food regulations
