My client is a well established logistics business who are looking for an experienced transport planning team leader to join their team, you will ideally come from a high volume logistics background and be able to manage a team effectively within a fast paced environment.

To be responsible for all aspects of the planning process, including reviewing and optimising regional plans on both a short term and long term basis, working closely with the TMS to continuously develop and refine its output. To ensure that whatever type of resource is used they are effectively planned and targeted levels of productivity are achieved. To evaluate existing practices and continually improve performance. To be responsible for the management and training of the Planning team.

  • Core Duties:







  • To develop and implement a planning review process within the Planning function, to include;



  • Review of work taken out on the TMS



  • Initial review of the plan initially produced by TMS but after the Planner responsible has optimised it.



  • Final review of the circuit plan after the Planner has reviewed it with the relevant Co-ordinators.



  • Management of the Planners, including training and development of each Planner.





  • Ensure that all resource types used are being productively planned including;



  • Drivers



  • Inspectors



  • Linehaul



  • Runner vehicles





  • Ensure all staff have clear objectives, guidance & support and are effectively performance managed which includes an annual performance review.





  • Monitor processes and policies in support of company goals. Implement departmental policies and procedures to maximize output. Work with Performance Management and Continuous Improvement.





  • Provide day to day leadership to the Planning team to ensure maximum effectiveness, efficiency and co-ordination of all elements of service delivery







  • Working with the Operational management to ensure that the Regional Teams meets their goals and to a schedule that enables effective planning and delivery of the agreed KPI.





  • To ensure that the accuracy, quality of work and communication to customers both internal/external is of a consistently high standard.

Job Offer

A salary between £25,000 and £28,000 dependant on experience.
