My client is a Rail business that supports Network Rail and other rail industry customers to provide a safe, reliable and efficient rail network across Great Britain.


Job Accountability

To support the Head of Procurement in the delivery of a sustainable, compliant, innovative supply chain that is value for money, secure and reliable.
  • To assist the Head of Procurement in the development and delivery of the department’s strategy ensuring key activities and KPIs are delivered effectively and efficiently.
  • Support the Head of Procurement in developing and implementing policies and procedures to cover all procurement activity.
  • Provide a consultancy service including training and support to all business functions covering the full procurement process.
  • Lead cross functional teams on large tender processes, including OJEU compliant tenders, and undertake all necessary evaluation to arrive at outcomes aligned to the initial strategy.
  • Utilise a range of contract management techniques to drive performance improvements with key suppliers and
  • Responsible for the implementation of cost saving initiatives.
  • Provide data to produce KPIs to be used to drive performance improvements throughout the department.


The Ideal Candidate will be:

  • Fully MCIPS qualified
  • Degree level educated (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of European Procurement law and procedures
  • Good knowledge and experience of technical aspects of procurement such as tendering, contract law and negotiating across a wide range of goods and services
  • Proven track record of negotiating high spend contracts and delivering savings
  • Ability to assess information and decide upon effective and efficient courses of action
  • Ability to influence others
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate previous experience of advanced stakeholder management approach and skills
  • Good standard of IT skills including Excel, Power point and Word
