NHS Trust, Surrey seek Senior Category Manager on an interim contract for stock,non-stock and capital projects

Working within a reputable and established NHS Trust in the Surrey area, this company is looking for a Senior Category Manager who is able to deliver an efficient, effective and professional procurement and contract management service across their category spend group for stock, non-stock and capital projects.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Joint Deputy to the Head of Procurement Strategy & Transformation. Acts as the main point of contact in the absence of the Head of Procurement Strategy & Transformation.
  • Assist the Head of Procurement Strategy & Transformation to transform the procurement function from a transactionally focused organisation to one which has greater strategic focus and tackles the underlying drivers of cost.
  • Assist the Head of Procurement Strategy & Transformation in upskilling the procurement function to provide more proactive support to the organisation and promote procurement as a business partner.
  • Take a lead role and promoting cross regional working.
  • Engage with the collaboration agenda across SWL and maximise the opportunity to standardise and leverage combined volumes
  • Applying best practice skills, knowledge and experience to influence and manage a significant proportion of the Trust’s category expenditure to obtain excellent value for money.
  • Representing the Trust as part of the National Procurement Confederation, with the NHS in general, including NHS Supply Chain and with industry.
  • Managing and developing the procurement and contract management strategy ensuring that consideration and priority is given to promoting environmental and product sustainability in accordance with the Trust Sustainability plan.
  • Providing specialist advice on EU procurement law.
  • Providing procurement training and mentoring of staff within the Procurement and Logistics department.
  • Utilising the Trust eProcurement, eTendering, Contract and Vendor Management system and other information systems related to procurement.
  • Savings delivery against agreed targets
