The successful candidate will influence supplier relationships and business projects whilst meeting business requirements, achieving best overall value and minimising risk. They will liaise with key stakeholders building influence and co-ordinating procurement projects within assigned spend categories across multiple business areas of the UK Group.
The role will directly manage a portfolio of approximately £10 - 15 million.
Key Responsibilities
Influence Purchase Strategy Influence and manage the commercial purchase strategy for the procurement of appropriate goods and / or services in order to deliver continued cost improvements whilst meeting customer and business need. Ensure support and compliance with all relevant business policies and procedures.
Evaluate & Select Suppliers Evaluate, select and manage suppliers, negotiating agreements for the supply and outsourcing of goods and services for the business in order to achieve best value. Recommend suppliers and manage the production, agreement and regular reviews of documentation to support the contract and mitigate risk.
Manage Supplier Relationships Manage supplier relationships and necessary customer interfaces involved with the supply, supervision and maintenance of goods and services falling within the department's assigned responsibilities.
Managing Risks Comply fully with the roles and responsibilities detailed in the relevant Legal & General policies including but not limited to: Group Policy & Procedures, Purchasing Policy, Ethical Purchasing Principles and the requirements of the CR supply chain management programme.
Maintain Commercial Awareness Maintain a commercial and technological awareness of all products managed by the Corporate Procurement team and keep abreast of market developments in purchasing techniques, product technology and supply market-place activity in order to identify and exploit commercial opportunities.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience required
Spend category experience within recruitment and HR is desirable, but will consider applicants who can demonstrate clear purchasing background within alternative categories, with demonstrable achievements and benefits realisation in a comparable procurement position .
A good understanding of the legal aspects of contracting with suppliers.
Candidates will be MCIPS qualified or studying towards MCIPS or equivalent.
Suitable candidates will need to have a high level of self-motivation and management skills with sound sector knowledge, and an appetite to maximise benefits and deliver significant cost reduction targets across non-centralised spend categories.
