Unique and exciting times are ahead as Frimley Hospital work to digitally transform the “One Frimley” Heath Trust by enabling information sharing, thus reducing clinical variation and materially improving patient outcomes and experience as a result. This is a chance to be part the team who will implement a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system across all the trust sites, becoming more connected with wider care providers, providing one patient record rich in information for all clinicians to use. Your new role
As part of Frimley Health’s Digital Transformation programme, the Trust currently seeks a Senior Commercial Manager to make and own key commercial decisions to support the top three strategic development programmes spending > £200m You will be required to;

  • Effectively and efficiently deliver all commercial activity– specifically areas related to strategic programme procurements
  • Provide commercial advice to internal team and Trust operational teams, consistently communicating governance and process
  • Provide input to the Commercial pipeline process and annual rolling plan of activities
  • Identify and deliver on generation of income saving opportunities through alignment of contracts
  • Promote and develop where appropriate, opportunities to drive savings opportunities, promote value for money and the most cost effective and sustainable solutions to stakeholders through innovative procurement routes and maximising the value and outputs of existing and new contracts
  • Ensure the management and delivery of full implementation of regular and robust supplier relationship management reviews for a specific number of strategic contracts
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders representing the Trust externally at a very senior level, acting as a gatekeeper for commercial queries and ensure that these are responded to effectively and in a timely manner
  • Present accurate information in a variety of formats using excellent verbal and written skills, including making presentations to large and small groups and producing complex reports
  • Take dotted line management responsibility for the Digital Purchasing Officer with responsibility for day to day tasking of these staff, and for supporting the Digital Business & Contracts Manager with recruitment and selection decisions, regular staff appraisals, managing sickness absence, disciplinary and grievance matters, personal and career development and departmental workload and allocation
  • Operate as an authorised signatory and budget holder, in conjunction with Digital Business & Contracts Manager, responsible for all Digital Service contracts (£33M) plus a strategic programme spend of £200m+



What you'll need to succeed

  • A proven track record for making and owning large key commercial decisions
  • Strong negotiation skills – proven in high value procurements
  • Good technical knowledge in relation to NHS Contracts, frameworks, procurement rule and strong relationship management skills
  • Be an effective communicator with the ability to support the team and build confidence with external stakeholders
  • Proven skills at writing sharp focused business/investment cases and the ability to position them well to stakeholders
  • Strong financial management skills including planning and modelling
