Your new company: You will be working for a large, multi-national rail company who has recently been in a stage of growth, winning bids for major projects across the UK. Your new company has a positive reputation as an industry leader, with a history in global engineering and manufacturing.

Your new role: Your new job title will be Senior Commodity Manager, you will be reporting to the Category lead responsible for Rolling stock manufacture, Service and Maintenance. You will develop the procurement Strategy, including spend and demand analysis and supply market analysis. You will also set project procurement plans in line with the agreed category strategy and execute projects accordingly. You will identify and approve potential suppliers, and be involved with contract drafting, negotiation, approval and award for the chosen suppliers. You will contribute to the development in the procurement function, supporting business stakeholders in an exciting time of growth in which the company’s procurement function is becoming more centralised, global and strategic.

What you’ll need to succeed: The successful candidate will have category management experience, which doesn’t necessarily have to be in rail. They will come from either a direct or indirect sourcing background. He ideal candidate will have experience in an industry that is relevant to rail, automotive or transportation. They will be able to negotiate directly with manufacturing or service and maintenance suppliers. They will have a good working knowledge of SAP, including PO, Material Master, PIR. They will ideally have proven experience working in cross-functional teams, and with a strong understanding of contract law and contract drafting.
