The Role

The Senior Logistics Manager at Smyle key role is on supporting the delivery of events with a focus on logistical activity for events and activations for major corporates and high-profile brands. The role will take lead responsibility for event logistics on projects of varying sizes and be responsible for on-going client account management including securing new commercial opportunities.  Not only will the role require you to lead by example on projects there will also be a requirement for line management, development and mentoring of members of the logistics team. 

The role will also require regular travel when needed to our Hertford office 

Key Responsibilities

Client Relationships

  • Support the Client Services team in developing an in-depth understanding of the brand of all client accounts and build/drive excellent relationships and client satisfaction
  • Responsible for client submissions including our approach and response to the brief from a logistics perspective, approach and budget
  • Manage client contact leading all communications, calls and meetings
  • Look for and pursue opportunities for selling Logistics to existing clients and assist the event team in promoting logistics services and increase revenue and GP on projects
  • Be prepared to confidently present logistics responses/concepts, event / project documents and budgets to senior clients
  • Ensure absolute client satisfaction on all client accounts and projects

Project Leadership

  • Build relationships with other departments within Smyle; operations, creative and production, establishing and maintaining regular project meetings driving efficiency and productive project management
  • Support the Event Producer in agreeing critical paths and milestones, ensuring these are followed, maintained and meet the expectations of the client 
  • Deliver project solutions to the high standards expected by Smyle, always following our operational (Basecamp) and financial management (Procim) systems and procedures so project teams can follow process
  • Manage freelance project teams, during pre-production and on site, to ensure high standards of Smyle are maintained
  • Prepare and take part in post event debriefs including; client, internal departments and suppliers, producing reports and sharing lessons learnt with Smyle colleagues and departments


  • Drive venue search on key projects making sure that we propose the best venues and solutions for the client and the overall event experience
  • Build, maintain contacts and excellent working relations with venues and venue delivery teams making sure all contacts and centrally stored on Smyle’s in-house systems 
  • Lead the use of registration software producing event websites using the Smyle or client in-house registration software
  • Work with the Innovation Team to drive Innovation within front of house solutions and the Logistics Department
  • Pay special attention to the back-end questions and user experience, to make sure that all information for the event is gathered in an easy fashion for the delegate / guest
  • Work with the Creative team to develop creative solutions/experiential concepts, ensuring adequate and appropriate creative resources are available within the studio

Pitching ? 

  • Successfully develop, produce and deliver all venue and logistical elements of pitches and proposals including playing a key role in the pitch team, confidently presenting venue options

Leadership and Teamwork

  • Line management and mentoring of less experienced team members and supporting the Head of Events with process reviews, supplier and freelance roster management

  • In depth experience as a Senior Logistcs Manager within a similar size & quality organisation
  • Expert knowledge of all logistical elements including managing and developing registration websites, as well managing the the process and timeline, venue sourcing, food and beverage, hostess management and transport
  • Proven capability to input into projects budgets; up to £2m  
  • Third party supplier management including managing relationships
  • Team leadership experience, ability to line manage, mentor team members and motivate the team
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Resilient under pressure with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy & adhere to high standards of quality when working to tight deadlines
  • Proficient and experienced user of Microsoft Office suite is essential, particularly Outlook & Excel
  • Strong track record in complex experimental events for high-profile brands, B2C brand events and B2B conference delivery including major corporates and high-profile brands.
  • Exceptional presentation and pitching skills.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and prioritisation skills.
