My client is a well established business looking for a senior transport planner to join their growing team, you will ideally come from a high volume distribution background and be a natural problem solver with a 'can do' attitude.

Client Details



Ensure all work is planned in accordance with Customer Service level Agreements.

Ensure all the jobs/movements on the system are planned and allocated to the available driver workforce.

Meet time deadlines on particular work

Ensure that the work planned is efficient and productive to assist in the full training of all new drivers.

To be aware of clients requirements when allocating drivers (time restraints, time windows and expectations)

To be aware of Customer/Business access constraints.

Inform Customer Service of any problems and or delays

Respond quickly to real-time events such as traffic delays, breakdowns and last minute requests

To be aware of individual drivers skills and abilities (licence type), balance driver hours (WTD) and balance pay for drivers.

Search for extra drivers who are available to cover additional jobs/movements

Re-plan the job movements, where required, due to failures, aborts, breakdowns, etc.

Liaise with Recruitment to ensure driver coverage is at optimum levels and to discuss recruitment requirements.

Review weekly, monthly, yearly volume forecasts to ensure driver / agency requirements are clearly defined.

Achieve financial targets through correct resource allocation in line with Budget / Forecast.

Reduce travel expenses and travelling distance between jobs.

Such other duties as may reasonably be requested.

  • You will have 2+ years Transport Planning experience within a fast paced high volume distribution background.
  • You will be used to working with drivers, and have a sound knowledge of TMS and excel and be able to competently use both.
  • You will be able to manage and motivate drivers and ensure that operational goals are achieved.
  • Relationship management with various different branches within the business
  • Sound understanding of WTD and vehicle compliance regulations.
