A global engineering business are recruiting a Supplier Development Engineer. A hybrid Supply Chain and Quality role, applicants need experience in a supplier facing role, and an understanding quality tools and systems.

The Supplier Development Engineer will be responsible for the; resolution of supplier quality issues, Purchase Production Part Approval, Defect Prevention/Detction, and Supplier Corrective Actions. The Supplier Development Engineer will be responsible for assessing quality gaps in the supply chain - reducing supplier parts per million and risks associated with non-conformance to the business. Working closely with the Purchasing Manager, Quality and Production, the Supplier Development Engineer will support supplier selection activities.

Additional duties of the Supplier Development Engineer include:

1. Develops supply base, driving improvements in supplier quality, delivery, cost and systems.
2. Ensuring the suppliers meet the business needs in terms of responsible business, health and safety
3. Responsible for Supplier Corrective Action management and driving supplier to mitigate root cause of quality issues
4. Supports the introduction of new and derivative products through the Product Approval Process by:
5. Introduce supplier score cards and communicate internally the supplier’s performance.
6. Solicits cost savings and/or manufacturability suggestions from the supply base
7. Accountable for the creation and maintenance of supplier quality training materials
8. Maintains Supplier Training Matrix and supplier recognition process.

Supplier Development Engineer applicants should meet the following criteria:

1. Experience within a Supply Chain, or Quality focused role
2. Familiarity with TS-16949, ISO-9001:2000, and ISO-14000 quality system
3. An understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes
4. The ability to foster conductive relations with suppliers
5. Degree, or HNC/HND in an engineering field, or supply chain qualification
