The role of Supply Chain Analyst / S&OP Analyst is a hybrid position across the Demand, Supply and Inventory teams. The role exists to deliver value-added analytics to support better decision making in the fields of Inventory Strategy (Excess, Obsolete & Aged Stock, and Safety Stock Modelling), managing promotions, NPI, and providing project & process support to the ongoing monthly S&OP cycle.

My client are a market-leader within the UK FMCG sector, supplying into key UK retailers. My client were recently bought out and this brings a huge cash injection, putting them in a strong financial position for both business growth and investment in their people agenda.


The role of Supply Chain Analyst / S&OP Analyst covers the following responsibilities:
  • Support the recurring reviews on Excess, Obsolete and Aged stock, with analysis around volumes, margins, and key actions within Supply Chain and Sales/Marketing/Category teams.
  • Improve the effectiveness of Demand/Stock/Service/Inventory reviews, by implementing a suite of data analytics that also improve efficiency of the review cycle.
  • Participate in stock, service, and cost improvement projects; develop reports and analysis for continuous improvement.
  • Continually improve data availability and report automation/formatting to aid and use tools to determine improvement focus areas.
  • Prepare for (and, at times, participate in) customer meetings (sometimes at customers’ sites), with a focus on (but not limited to) forecasting/demand planning, service improvement, inventory optimisation, or new product introduction.
  • Support the translation of the performance data into clear actions and KPIs designed to improve end-to-end supply chain performance.
  • Develop capacity planning capability as part of overall plant Planning and S/Chain capability enhancement
  • Support supplier performance improvement (on-time delivery, lead-time adherence)
  • Support the development of daily/weekly/monthly reporting cycles, to help demand/fulfilment/sales/operations/procurement teams. This will include preparation for leadership meetings on a periodic basis.


The successful candidate for the role of Supply Chain Analyst / S&OP Analyst will have a robust grounding (& financial/commercial perspective) in understanding upstream and downstream supply chain principles. You will have evidence of data extraction, interrogation, manipulation and review, to better support commercial/financial decision making; together with strong analytical abilities and with relentless attention to detail. Project exposure to operations or supply chain environment would be advantageous.

You will have the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and the ability to cut through complex data sets, to reach clear and simple conclusions, and navigate teams and individuals through to a simple path forward.

Job Offer

The successful candidate for the role of Supply Chain Analyst, based in Peterborough will be offered c.£40'000.
