This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business based in Barnsley, that have shown tremendous growth over the years and continue to do so. As the Supply Chain Coordinator you will be responsible for purchasing a number of commodities and managing the planning of kitting and assembly operations, whilst controlling inventory levels in-line with Company stock holding targets.

Client Details

I am currently working with a market leading engineering and manufacturing business who supply a broad customer base with high precision, automotive products. With their own precision manufacturing base overseas and multiple engineering sites in South Yorkshire they are able to retain complete control over every process within the design, supply, manufacture and delivery of their products.

Description

Please see a list of key responsibilities for the Supply Chain Coordinator role.
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with key internal customers, in order to gain an understanding of their needs to improve the service provided.
  • Manage supplier relationships in a professional and effective manner.
  • Creation of BOM’s on computer system; generating purchase orders; liaising with freight forwarders to plan shipment collections; analysing purchasing and stock reports in order to maintain stock levels to agreed Company / personal target.
  • Coordinating goods return process for faulty supplied product, including consolidation and return to supplier of all reject material, control of product rework / credit notes as appropriate
  • Monitoring supplier performance, providing advance warning to the sales / production teams when delivery problems are anticipated.
  • Ensure that kitting and assembly plans and production schedules are in place to maintain strategic stock levels of finished products; ensuring that component stock levels at the production and kitting facilities are sufficient to ensure efficient running of production operations, including timely processing of inter-store transfers on the computer system.
  • Working with relevant departments and participating in project team meetings as required to manage and facilitate the introduction of new parts, engineering modifications and supplier re-sourcing activities; maintaining accuracy of information and availability of new parts / revisions, ensuring all NPI purchased components are sourced in line with set timing plans to enable a smooth changeover and minimisation of obsolescence and changeover costs.



Profile

The successful candidate for the Supply Chain Coordinator will ideally have some of the following key skills and qualities:
  • Experience of working as a Buyer / Material Controller - ideally within a manufacturing environment
  • Working towards CIPS or equivalent
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques
  • Industry / product knowledge
  • Experience of metal mechanical components
  • Second language skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Good organisational skills
  • Strong number and analytic skills, combined with creative problem-solving abilities
  • Good commercial and business appreciation
  • Computer literate, including good MS Office experience
  • Takes responsibility for own actions and results, and encourages others to do so
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative, within a team environment
