About the role

The Store Ordering Operations Team is responsible for the ordering into stores of all Packaged Food products within Tesco.  Our objective is to ensure world class in-store availability whilst avoiding any unnecessary waste.  The team works closely with colleagues across Supply Chain, Commercial and Space, Range and Display (SRD) to ensure that the correct products are delivered to the correct stores at the right time and in the right quantity. 

This work includes the end to end management of all seasonal ranges for key events such as Christmas and Easter, and the development of existing tools and processes through innovative and creative thinking.

You will be responsible for

You will be responsible for planning, managing and overseeing the ordering of all packaged food seasonal ranges into stores during our key events, e.g. Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, etc.  This is a high-profile role within Supply Chain and would suit a determined and motivated candidate with a passion for retail and delivering world class availability to customers at the most important times of the year.

  • Shape and deliver the seasonal ordering strategy
  • Take the lead for managing the governance of all fresh food seasonal ordering; track and report progress, update business leaders on potential threats and escalate where necessary
  • Plan, manage and deliver seasonal ordering in line with the agreed critical path
  • Identify, engage and influence stakeholders; build positive working relationships across multiple teams
  • Work with commercial colleagues to deliver their seasonal strategy; maximise sales opportunities through best in class availability whilst avoiding unnecessary waste
  • Simplify, automate and modernise existing tools and processes to deliver efficiency savings and improve forecasting, ordering, availability and waste
  • This role will best suit an individual who enjoys working as part of a team, is planned and well organised, comfortable with analysing and interpreting data, and able to identify opportunities to improve the status quo

You will need

You’ll need to have demonstrated experience of:

  • Managing and successfully delivering complex projects involving multiple stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to manipulate and interpret large sets of data; a maths or science-based degree is required
  • Delivering change or innovation to improve existing processes
  • Time management and the ability to prioritise and deliver multiple tasks to a deadline
  • Adapting and responding to change in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication – you will need to be able to articulate accurate information to a wide range of stakeholders, including senior business leaders
  • Interrogating databases using programming languages (experience of SQL and VBA is preferential)
  • Using Microsoft Excel to an advanced level
  • Influencing stakeholders without authority
