The role of the Transport Co-ordinator is to provide reliable support to the UK and International transport team. The role will be based in Crewe, with shift patterns predominantly Monday - Friday (days).

Description

The role of the Transport Co-ordinator:
  • Manage and control the daily planning of all UK transportation including: driver resource, transport schedules whilst taking budgets into account.
  • Work closely with the transport manager to manage domestic accounts.
  • Be the first point of contact for all external drivers, office colleagues and external contractors ensuring problems are dealt with effectively and efficiently.
  • Co-ordinate all UK domestic vehicles and ensure that routine safety checks are completed within the correct time scales.
  • Liaise with 3rd party hauliers negotiating rates.

Profile

The Successful Transport Co-ordinator will have the following skills/experience:
  • Knowledge of managing transport fleets in a logistics and haulage background.
  • Strong knowledge of weight distributions for loading / unloading.
  • Knowledge of import / export requirements.
  • Knowledge of driving hours regulations and working time directive.
  • Previous experience of managing carriers within an FMCG environment.
  • Be able to negotiate with hauliers taking service and costs into account.

Job Offer

Salary: £27,000 - £29,000 (DoE)

Hours: Monday - Friday (days) a degree of flexibility will be required to meet business demands.
