My client is a leading distribution business based in Walsall.

They are looking for a CPC Qualified Transport Manager to be responsible for their flagship operation in Walsall.

Client Details

My client is a leading distributor of retail products. Based in Walsall they are looking for a CPC qualified Transport Manager to run both their driver management and network planning teams.


The Transport Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Maintain roadworthy vehicles in line with VOSA guide to road worthiness.
  • Ensure all drivers hours are monitored and controlled in accordance with EC driver’s hours regulations.
  • Manage all other aspects of Operator Compliance.
  • Ensure every delivery is signed for either on paperwork or PDA.
  • Ensure all PDA’s are in full working order or repaired quickly.
  • Responsibility for the leadership and direction of the drivers and other team members
  • Clearly communicate with all departments the delivery/service performance including failure reporting.
  • To drive continuous improvement in people, process and the cost efficiency of the operations.
  • To ensure sufficient resource is available for the daily delivery requirement.
  • Able to manage projects and introduction of new initiatives.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and security of the vehicles
  • Hold self and others accountable for quality of service and meeting deadlines.
  • Carefully manage KPIs and eligibility for Expert rate
  • Work closely with the warehouse ensuring trunks leave on time.
  • Recruit and retain all driving staff and manage headcount.


The successful candidate will have the following experience:
  • CPC Qualified
  • Able to use tachograph analysis software
  • Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Sound geographical UK road network knowledge
  • Understanding of Health and Safety Legislation and able to partner with the Leadership and Management Teams in the implementation and communication of Health and Safety issues
  • Self-driven, results orientated with a clear focus on exceeding targets.
  • Natural planner who critically assesses performance and learns from it.
  • A team player, able to influence, coach and lead others.
  • A hands on approach that includes being able to go out on the road delivering to customers.

Job Offer

£38,000 - £43,000 + benefits
