An excellent opportunity to join as a transport manager at a growing retail distribution company based in Crewe. A salary of up to £43,000 is available for the right candidate

Client Details

The Client is a key business that distributes into the agricultural sector, one of there main focuses to build long standing relationships


Key responsibilities for the Transport Manager

  • Developing the department in order to provide a quality first class service to all customer

  • Being responsible for overseeing 2 Depots

  • Ensure the department complies with health and safety legislation
  • Motivate the team to achieve planned targets and deadlines by providing guidance and encouragement;
  • To ensure the operation achieves on time, accurate delivery, through effective use of the planning / scheduling information available;
  • To ensure the department operates within the legal constraints of the vehicle operator’s license;
  • Ensure the operation complies with the Road Traffic Act;
  • Ensuring transport financial performance is within budget;

  • Assist in the recruitment and training of the Transport Team;

  • Build customer confidence through demonstrating a thorough knowledge of the operation;

  • Accountability for health, safety and environmental requirements to operate the site;

  • To play a key role in the continual improvement of process/ methods of the sites operating procedures;

  • Liaise closely with other departments, building a detailed understanding of the warehouse and systems function;

  • Manage and conduct investigations, disciplinary and grievance hearings as required;

  • Manage the absence levels within the Transport team;


The successful Transport Manager
  • Will have a national CPC
  • Ideally will have IOSH and/or NEBOSH
  • Be a driven passionate person
  • Ideally from a retail background
  • An excellent communicater on all levels
  • Have knowledge of basic computer systems
  • Be hands on in the operation

Job Offer

An excellent salary of up to £43,000 for the right candidate
