An exciting opportunity has become available to work as an Interim Transport Manager for a well known retail company based in Crewe. A competitive salary is available for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities for the Transport Manager
  • You will be working the late shift 14:00 till 22:00 or 11:00 till 19:00

  • To constantly develop the department in order to provide a quality first class service to all customers



  • Be proactive in motivating the team to achieve planned targets and deadlines by providing guidance and encouragement;



  • To ensure the operation achieves on time, accurate delivery, through effective use of the planning / scheduling information available;



  • To ensure the department operates within the legal constraints of the vehicle operator’s license;



  • Ensure the operation complies with the Road Traffic Act;



  • Ensure the department complies with health and safety legislation;



  • Ensuring transport financial performance is within budget;



  • Assist in the recruitment and training of the Transport Team;



  • Build customer confidence through demonstrating a thorough knowledge of the operation;



  • Accountability for health, safety and environmental requirements to operate the site;



  • To play a key role in the continual improvement of process/ methods of the sites operating procedures;



  • Liaise closely with other departments, building a detailed understanding of the warehouse and systems function;



  • Manage and conduct investigations, disciplinary and grievance hearings as required;



  • Manage the absence levels within the Transport team;











Profile

The successful Transport Manager
  • Will have a National CPC
  • You will have excellent communication skills on all levels
  • Be a People manager, someone who wants to be hands on in the operation
  • Experience in a logistics/transport environment
  • Previous experience working within a similar role
  • Ability to work to tight and moving deadlines
