Hazco is looking to recruit a Transport Manager based at their Grangemouth depot reporting in the Site Manager

Client Details

Based in Grangemouth, Hazco Environmental is a well-established and highly successful liquid waste management and industrial services company, operating a specialised fleet of tankers, DISABs, high pressure water jetting units and a wide range of ancillary equipment to satisfy the needs of industry.

The Company’s success has been built on delivering what the customers want when they want it. To achieve this it can be a fast and ever changing environment so the candidate will have to be up for the challenge.

Reporting into the General Manager, Hazco is looking to recruit a Transport Manager to join its Operations Department.


The purpose of this role is to perform the duties as the designated Transport Manager on the Company’s Goods Vehicle Operator’s Licence. This role will ensure that the Company is fully compliant with its legal responsibilities, controlling costs and reporting on transport performance. Additionally this role will include management of the depot, its waste management and ADR requirements along with management of the vehicle repair workshop.

Transport Management

  • Ensure compliance of the Goods Vehicle Operator’s licence held by the Company, in line with current legislation

  • Manage drivers’ hours for permanent and agency drivers in line with working time and drivers' hours and tachograph rules in the UK and Europe

  • Responsible for identification of and ensuring the safe carriage of all waste

  • Engage the services of driver agencies

  • Ensure all drivers maintain company standards

  • Control transport costs

  • Responsible for the review of the company transport systems

  • Responsible for all maintenance planning and records

  • Ensure maximum fleet availability for operational planning

Operations Management

  • Assist in the planning and organisation of labour, equipment and materials for use on jobs

  • Carry out regular site visits, documenting observations and recommending appropriate development points, ensuring correct working practices are maintained

  • Assist with briefing and debriefing of operatives

  • Recruitment, induction, training and performance management of drivers

  • Responsible for management of mechanics’ workload

  • Responsible for management of depot upkeep including management of all waste movements

  • Provision of holiday cover for other operational managers

  • Deal with transport and operational technical issues

  • Responsible for the management of the Company’s ADR requirements

  • Responsible for preparing management reports

  • You will be required to work additional hours at short notice as necessitated by the needs of the business

  • You will be expected to be flexible and to carry out all reasonable duties as part of the job, as and when required.

  • Work with all staff to enhance their health and safety knowledge and develop their ability to ensure standards are being achieved when out on customer sites

  • Participate in the on call rota


Experience & Qualifications

  • CPC in National Road Haulage Operations
  • Must hold a current UK driving licence
  • Mechanical interest/experience
  • LGV Class 1 Licence is desirable
  • DGSA certification and/or previous ADR experience is desirable
