A fantastic opportunity has come up for a Transport Manager with my client in the Staffordshire area. My client is a global FMCG business who are in a period of growth and need additional resource to help with the additional work load.

As the Transport Manager you will be responsible for all aspects of the transport operation, ensuring the integrity of all deliveries and service requirements with the 3PL providers, as well as KPI management and reporting.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing the relationship with chosen carriers so that you are fully aware of any delays and possible issues with delivery.
  • Liaise with the Customer as required in relation to delays and possible issues with delivery.
  • Source sub-contractors as and when required.
  • Co-ordinate a late load report in line with operational requirements and deadlines.
  • Ensure the transport planning operations are in line with budgeted costs and achieve all contractual KPI’s
  • Create a positive working environment with a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Working cross functionally with people of varying seniority.

The ideal candidate will have the following:
  • Good understanding of both Local and International transport legislation
  • Works well under pressure
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement.
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety
  • Knowledge of transport systems.
  • Previous Management experience either in logistics or other similar field.
  • Experience of working within the transport industry
  • Good IT skills including Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot tables, SUM, IF)
