Our client, a specialist distribution business, are recruiting for an experienced Transport Manager to join their growing team in Northamptonshire.

Client Details

Our client are a specialist distribution business based in Northamptonshire.


  • Management of daily Transport Operation in line within agreed targets and budgets
  • Manage all direct reports giving guidance and motivation as required to achieve service excellence to the highest standards, exceeding where possible
  • Responsible for resolution of day to day operational issues regarding deliveries, drivers & vehicles
  • Ensure Company Health and Safety procedures are carried out and that all drivers adhere to driving legislation always.
  • Management of the vehicle fleet:maintenance/legal compliance/defect & damage repair/accident reporting and procedures efficiency and utilisation
  • Maintain all documentation and ensure compliance with legal requirements in regard to transportation, Food Safety, Health & Safety and Environment.
  • Oversee route planning & TMS (allocation of drivers & vehicles, data collation and other Transport Office activities)
  • Co-ordinate the resolution of operational issues whilst clearly communicating between the customer and business personnel
  • Responsible for provision of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly reports & KPIs to meet business and customer reporting requirements


  • Extensive experience of managing busy transport operations
  • National/International CPC is essential
  • Experience of managing a temperature controlled fleet is advantageous
  • Excellent working knowledge of Driving Hours & Working Time Directive rules & regulations and their application in the Transport environment
  • Comfortable operating within fast paced environments in a calm, diplomatic and reasoned manner
  • Excellent inter-personal skills and comfortable communicating at all levels (drivers, office and warehouse staff, senior management & customers)
