Opportunity to join a global business as an experienced transport planner, you will ideally come from a containers background, the shift pattern runs Monday to Friday and is a 10 hour shift between the hours of 6am and 6pm.

You must be an experienced transport planner with at least 2 years experience. AND HAVE CONTAINER PLANNING EXPERIENCE.

Main Purpose of the role

Reporting directly to the Transport Planning Manager, you will work within the transport planning team to schedule and plan the nationwide movement of our vehicles. The role will require you to effectively plan vehicle routes and load configurations, using routing software and by manually planning.

Main duties and responsibilities

You will be responsible for effectively planning all routes via the most economic route, taking into consideration the dimensions and weight of loads. As an experienced Transport Planner, you will be responsible for cost, performance, quality and compliance of all routes.

You will ensure the daily plan is completed and effectively resolve any scheduling problems as they occur. You will liaise between customers, suppliers and drivers to ensure customer KPI’s and targets are achieved and maintained.

You will ensure that our internal routing software is updated and maintained.

Fully brief drivers regarding collection points, delivery points, load details, specific site requirements and specific loading and unloading requirements for each shipment.

Maintain professional communication with internal and external customers at all times

Ensure all phone calls and emails are dealt with quickly in an efficient and professional manner.


The ideal candidate will have a proven track record within a planning environment and / or the transport and logistics industry, with experience of planning loads, routes and deliveries to multiple locations. With significant route optimization experience, you will have the drive and determination to achieve challenging targets.

It is essential that you have knowledge and experience of routing software and manually planning routes along with strong MS Office skills. Geographic knowledge is also necessary.

You will be able to work on your own initiative and be willing to resolve complex issues. You will be able to organise your own workload and will be able to work in a pressurised environment to meet key deadlines. Strong verbal and written communications are essential requisites.
