Key Objectives:

To act as the first point of contact for all customer requests for product deliveries.

To plan utilisation of vehicle & driver resources to ensure that all customers receive a delivery service which at least equals their expectations, whilst operating this service at minimum compatible levels of logistics costs



Client Details

Global Distribution business based in South Yorkshire require a Transport Planner to join their team at their NDC.

Description

As Transport Planner you responsibilities will include:
  • Handle all customer delivery queries and resolve as far as possible, formally reporting all instances of customer dissatisfaction and notifying the responsible Sales person and relevant Operational Managers. All incidents should be rigorously documented and reviewed.
  • Ensure that all deliveries are scheduled within recommended timescales according to agreed departmental / business practice
  • Make proactive contact with customers on a structured basis to establish delivery requirements, give advance notice of delivery plans, and keep a general check on perceived service levels.
  • Ensure that all non-routine customer contact is logged, and that information received is used proactively to improve the management of customer service.
  • Assess customer delivery needs from orders taken
  • Forward-plan deliveries over the maximum foreseeable timescale to monitor anticipated demands relative to vehicle & driver availability. Adjust current schedules and manipulate customer orders accordingly.


  • Provide guidance to Drivers during their working shift on all queries











Profile

To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate the following:
  • A methodical and analytic approach
  • Transport Operational or Planning experience
  • Excellent communication skills - able to effectively build relationships across all levels
  • Able to deliver consistent high levels of customer service at all times
  • Able to work a rotating shift patterns - days/afters/nights 5 out of 7.



Job Offer

The successful candidate will be offered a salary of up to £36,000 plus shift allowance.
