The Transport Planner will ensure delivery and transport routes are scheduled in the most cost-effective method, whilst adhering to customer service levels. This role will be based in Cheshire.

Client Details

A well recognised Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain provider. This role will be based on site in close proximity to Runcorn.


The role of the Transport Planner:
  • Overseeing Planning and coordination of driver and load movements
  • Ensuring deliveries and transport routes are planned in the most cost-effective method
  • Controlling and maintaining trailer pools for high priority customers
  • Liaise with customers and create excellent working relationship to ensure all SLA’s are met
  • Liaising with sub-contractors and agents
  • Ensure company guidelines, quality, Health & Safety and service are maintained
  • Ensure system administration (empty legs, trailer number, solo movement) is kept at highest quality to enable efficient reporting
  • Be able to problem solve individually, be a swift reactor to issues and also bring solutions to team planning issues
  • Have the ability to analyse workloads to maximise revenue and to also be target driven and self-motivated
  • Work closely with other departmental managers to ensure all divisions are maximising utilisation of resources
  • Ensure that the correct equipment type required for specific jobs is used


What the successful Transport Planner applicant will look like:
  • Previous experience working on a Transport Planning desk is essential
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to use TMS effectively
  • Excellent understanding of Driver's hours and regulations
  • Knowledge of vehicle compliance
  • Be able to commute to Runcorn daily

Job Offer

Salary: £26,000 - £29,000

Hours: Monday - Friday (days) occasional Saturday mornings may be expected
