Transport Supervisor Position

Your new role

Main Duties
  • To proactively motivate Transport Team Members to achieve planned targets and deadlines by providing guidance and encouragement.
  • To deal with any disciplinary matters which arise, to carryout investigations, conduct formal disciplinary hearings in line with Company procedures and make disciplinary decisions up to and including written warnings.
  • To investigate and resolve formal grievances in line with Company procedures.
  • Co-ordinate and run training sessions within your department including refresher training and induction training.
  • Brief transport team members daily; provide information on performance, company news and procedures. Debrief Team Members at the end of shifts to ascertain achievements and any problems encountered.
  • Ensure maintenance of driver licence checks.
  • Ensure information regarding: Tachograph Infringements, Accident Rates, Driver Performance are reported accurately.
  • Actively manage transport KPI’s.
  • Identify/report all operational problems to the Transport Manager regularly, making recommendations for improvement.
  • Control a combined chill, ambient and frozen schedule delivering an exceptional level of customer service.
  • Analyse reports against KPI targets and advise on actions to improve results.
  • Recruit, retain and motivate all relevant staff.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Significant experience of Transport operations at a management level is required.
  • Strong degree of PC literacy with an emphasis on accuracy and an extensive knowledge of spreadsheets/databases are essential.
  • The candidate must be educated to GCSE standard or equivalent– passes at grade C or above (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English are desirable and ideally hold NVQ level 3.
  • CPC qualified with a working knowledge of driver hours, tachographs and transport procedures would be desirable.
  • Experience of managing a team of 50 plus in a fast moving customer orientated transport operation.
  • Previous experience with Transport Management Systems
  • Good Geographical knowledge of NI
