This is a key role within the transport operation, with responsibility for the effective and timely dispatch of deliveries, using the customers latest Integrated Transport Management System, control of the site Health and Safety improvement programme and development of the team operating under you direction.



Client Details

Leading 3PL based in West Yorkshire.

This challenging and exciting role will appeal to an individual with previous management experience, who is looking to develop themselves towards a future career in operations management.

Description

The Role:?
  • To support the management of a fleet of drivers and transport support staff, ensuring that they work within company guidelines.
  • To ensure operational targets are met on a weekly and monthly basis. Through effective use the customers Integrated Transport Management System.
  • Analyse reports against KPI targets and advise on action to improve results, ensuring all activities are conducted in line with budgetary requirements.
  • To brief drivers at the start of every shift communicating planned requirements providing information on performance, company news and procedures.
  • Proactively encourage a positive and constructive relationship on site with the union and union representatives.
  • Increase communication with customer services
  • Ensure the department complies with Road Traffic Act regulations.
  • Ensure all incident reports are fully investigated with action taken where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Proactively motivate and develop the transport team by providing guidance and encouragement, ensure reviews are conducted in line with best practice.
  • Ensure any disciplinary action is carried out following company procedure, and documented accordingly, and maintain confidentiality following dealing with drivers to the manager, acting within levels of authority at all times.
  • Involvement within the site engagement meetings with the customer.

Profile

The Person:
  • Experienced in managing health and safety with a proven track record.
  • Experience of supervising / managing a team at a senior level.
  • Experience of managing within a transport environment.
  • Lead by example to try to resolve driver issues on a day to day basis to avoid formal grievances.
  • Knowledge of transport legislation and a CPC holder.
  • Knowledge of computerised scheduling and driver management packages.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and work to strict deadlines a must.
  • A strong communicator both verbal and written.
  • Excellent PC skills.
  • A flexible team based approach.

Job Offer

The successful candidate will be offered a salary of up to £29,000.
