My client is looking for an ambitious and experienced transport team leader or shift manager who is looking to progress and develop their career but joining a global business.

This is an exciting role for an ambitious transport team leader or shift manager, reporting to the Deputy Transport Operations Manager, you will assist in the management and performance of the shift operation, covering all days of the week within rota patterns. You will be responsible for managing a team of Team Supervisors and drivers, driving their development and the continuous improvement of the Transport operation, delivering great service at optimal cost.





  • Ensure the Transport Supervisors work effectively and in a timely manner to dispatch and conduct effective driver debriefs.



  • Managing all safety and legal compliance aspects.



  • Being an ambassador for best practice, team development and effective communication.



  • Experience of Logistics Management.



  • Ability to analyse & make recommendations from KPI’s & management reports.



  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.



  • Experience in managing teams of people



  • CPC National Qualification is desirable.



  • Experience in managing costs & driving efficiencies.



  • Systems knowledge & experience of working with telematics transport management



  • Ability to persevere with an issue or problem until the matter is settled or the objective is no longer obtainable.



  • Willingness to participate as a full member of a team of which you are not necessarily a leader; effective contributor even when the team is working on something of no personal interest.



  • Motivates, enables and inspires others to succeed. Has a clear vision of what is required and acts as a positive role model.





Profile

  • Experience of managing all safety and legal compliance aspects.



  • Being an ambassador for best practice, team development and effective communication.



  • Experience of monitoring adherence to daily plans through available vehicle telemetry and TMS, pro-actively managing issues before they arise.



  • Ability to drive standards in safety and legal compliance to reduce personal and vehicle accidents.



  • Experience of Driving standards on debrief and optimising driving styles and driver productivity through managing driver assessor team.



  • Demonstrable experience of Coaching and leading the teams to maintain motivation and engagement.



  • Ability to conduct effective 1-2-1 meetings & performance reviews with direct reports.



  • Work within a Supporting role to the Deputy Transport Operations Manager in their absence attending Operational meeting as required



  • Conducting investigations and disciplinary hearings should they arise.



  • Be seen as a ‘thought-leader’ in the team but also have the ability to inspire, motivate &encourage innovation in others using a collaborative leadership style.



  • Competent in compiling & analysing management reports from available MI / data sources.







  • Experience of Logistics Management.



  • Ability to analyse & make recommendations from KPI’s & management reports.



  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.



  • Experience in managing teams of people.





  • CPC National Qualification desirable



  • Experience in managing costs & driving efficiencies.



  • Systems knowledge & experience of working with telematics transport management systems and tachograph analysis (isotrak/ ortec/tachomaster).



  • Experience of working in the Express Parcel Sector.



  • Experience in client facing or operational account management.



  • Ability to work with stakeholders cross functionally.









Job Offer

A salary between £34,000 and £38,000 dependant on experience + benefits + bonus
