As Warehouse Team Manager your role is to lead an Internal and External Logistics team in order to maximise the control of: Safety, Quality, and Efficiency, through people, effective communication, management of mechanical equipment and the support of Organisational change.

Description

As Warehouse Team Manager you will work closely with the Site Manager and lead a team of 16.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensure all risk assessments are complete and current
  • Ensure all staff are adequately trained and that refresher training is carried out as required
  • Comply with RMB safety policies and procedures
  • Manage the recovery of damaged stock and transfer of rejected stock to reclaims
  • Support Customer Audits
  • Maintain effective communication between in-plant logistics and consumer departments, ensuring no failures resulting in factory stoppages
  • Optimise efficiency of warehouse staff and trucks, and service to production areas
  • Report warehouse shift/driver efficiency numbers on a daily and weekly basis
  • Initiate and contribute to Continuous improvement projects
  • Monitor/arrange training for new procedures, equipment and members of staff.
  • Ensure that staff levels are maintained at an optimal level by reviewing short and long term requirements.
  • Control labour direct/indirect and overheads spending within budgeted levels
  • Identify and investigate all major stock variances
  • Encourage/contribute to cost saving initiatives. Review staff on the Time management systems ensuring accurate information to accounts department
  • Ensure that all HR procedures such as RTW, disciplinary, attendance reviews are carried out as required
  • Organise the department in such a way that the highest level of service can be offered to the external and internal customers in accordance with the company objectives
  • Develop, implement and communicate policies, procedures, organisational structure, and position descriptions.
  • Determine objectives in line with the objectives of the department, draw up action plans, define priorities and provide adequate resources
  • Utilise skills and resources for identifying, interviewing, recruiting and hiring qualified people that enable the unit to achieve or surpass strategic plans.
  • End-responsible for the process department’s personnel budget
  • Work out and implement business focused people strategies
  • Develop the human capital in the department by ensuring the right personal development in line with the defined needs
  • Provide advice, guidance and direction to subordinate managers toward their professional development
  • Develop, implement and communicate performance standards
  • Support the department in achieving higher levels of performance
  • Ensure safety is first and foremost in every activity
  • Work and promote compliance to procedure
  • Control and manage safety reviews and meetings
  • Carryout regular risk assessments and reviews
  • Control and manage Safe Working Practice activities and reviews
  • Provide support for all Audits
  • Control and manage efficiency reviews, forums and reports
  • Monitor, report and review all relevant warehouse data
  • Pre-plan shift requirements to guarantee continuous working and consistent effectiveness
  • Provide data to support the budgetary plan



This is a full time permanent opportunity. The shifts are 4 on and 4 off with 2 days of days and 2 of nights (7 - 7)









Profile

To be successful in your application for Warehouse Team Manager you must have the following previous experience:
  • A through knowledge of the SAP transactions and processes or similar warehouse management systems
  • An understanding of what drives cost within own area, an appreciation of the factors which influence profit, and use that understanding to achieve cost and service KPI’s.
  • Strives to reduce costs within own area wherever possible without comprising on quality or service.
  • Monitors performance KPI’s and communicates them to team members to secure involvement for continuous improvements and cost reduction
  • Takes into account the longer term departmental plans and goals when making decisions which may have a commercial impact
  • A detailed knowledge of policies, procedures and standards that are applicable
  • Ensure adequate licences are held for FLT’s and manage refresher training in line with company policies, how they fit with those of other departments and the inter-dependencies
  • Ensures the effective communication of safety and environmental related matters between departments, across the shift system and within the department
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Effective communication across all levels
