We seek a major-league logistics professional for this senior position with a multi-faceted distribution business within the Industrial sector.
The successful candidate will head-up a Distribution team and a large fleet of commercial vehicles based across the South West and Wales. You will provide high quality strategic direction as well as Account and project management to existing and new clients to ensure that the business is able to differentiate itself from the competition. You may well be a senior logistics executive working for a blue chip retailer or a 3PL, whose skills and experience are truly world-class and who has an understanding of the technology that is available to drive improvements in distribution / transport operations.
First and foremost, you will be an inspirational people manager who can motivate and develop a team across multiple sites, promoting a customer focused team spirit and creating and maintaining a high-performance culture. You will ensure that all team members are trained and developed to their full capabilities and have the operational knowledge needed to make a valuable contribution to the achievement of operational excellence and the provision of outstanding customer service and satisfaction. In addition to your day-to-day operational responsibilities your role will also take a strategic direction as you prepare, implement and manage plans to reach both short and long-term objectives for growth whilst driving a Continuous Improvement culture with both a customer and cost focus. You will have a good financial acumen and experience of developing and attaining aggressive budget and business plans in order to maintain the region’s profitable development. It goes without saying that you will be an effective communicator and have the gravitas needed to foster excellent business relationships across all levels. You will have previous experience of managing current and prospective clients and your in-depth understanding of logistics practices will enable you to understand clients’ requirements and provide the credibility to leave them with no doubt whatsoever as to the benefits you will be able to bring to them.
