Buyer required for large Newport based services provider.

As a Buyer, you will lead on delivering assigned sourcing events to support the delivery of the annual Procurement Plan.

This will include but not be limited to:

  • Data collection and preparation
  • Supplying market analysis and benchmarking
  • Stakeholder identification and management
  • Contribute and lead stakeholder engagement sessions
  • Support stakeholders in the development of detailed specifications
  • Creation of E of I's, PQQ's and ITTs
  • Effective and efficient utilisation of the E-Procurement Solution
  • Post tender analysis
  • Development of award recommendations
  • Drafting of contract documents
  • Contribute and lead on supplier negotiations
  • Implementing new Contract / Suppliers arrangements and deploying them throughout the business.

You will maintain the Work and Engineering Services category to ensure the optimum number of suitably competent and fully accredited suppliers are available for use by the business to allow them to comply with the Procurement Policy. Also, you will ensure there is ongoing business stakeholder compliance with procurement policy, procedures and processes and assisting in the development and implementation of any new policy, procedures and processes. You will contribute to the ongoing development and performance improvement of the Procurement Team through the active participation in both current and future development projects. You will ensure accurate maintenance of records associated with sourcing, contracting and vendor activities to ensure a robust audit trail and to support effective future planning and will undertake wider departmental tasks within the Procurement team as required.

You will need:

  • Relevant procurement experience and/or MCIPS qualification with some practical experience
  • A strong commercial awareness and understanding of contract terms.
  • A good understanding of EU procurement regulations and contract processes, procedures and best practices
  • The ability to communicate and interact effectively at all levels within the business. Good written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and organisational skills
  • The ability to work both under own initiative and as part of a team
  • The ability to prioritise own workload and multi-task
  • Good working knowledge of E-Procurement and Microsoft Office packages
  • The ability to operate procurement information systems and data manipulation, ideally with experience of using major ERP applications (SAP R/3, SAP SRM etc).
