Despatch Operative

I am supporting the search of a leading manufacturing business on a key role within their already impressive warehouse and production operation. They require a Despatch Operative due to continued growth throughout 2019.

Monday to Thursday 8 - 4 and Friday 8 - 1.

Description

Job responsibilities of the Despatch Operative will be:

  • Receive goods for despatch and ensure relevant packaging and processes are adhered to through to final shipment to customer
  • Prepare despatch paperwork and arrange shipment in conjunction with couriers
  • Receive RMAs, record and distribute to correct parties
  • Accurately record transactions on the company and external computer systems
  • Supply other functions in a timely fashion with relevant paperwork and information
  • Operate forklift as required, maintain forklift training and license to operate
  • Call off and manage packaging materials, distributing to other departments as required
  • Carry out inspection goods ready for despatch
  • Ensure that health and safety and environmental precautions are followed and standards of cleanliness and tidiness are maintained for warehouse and despatch areas
  • Work to all the company standards and procedures. Ensure department procedures are reviewed annually and proposals are made on how to improve and standardise tasks
  • Use personal protective equipment as requested by the company
  • Carry out any other reasonable requests as deemed necessary by the line manager
  • Provide training to other employees to ensure that despatch is manned and operating throughout the year without disruption or detriment to the customer
  • Work as part of a team of people ensuring goods-in, stores and despatch are manned at all times to ensure business continuity
  • Conduct PI counts as required
  • Perform stock checks and other duties as required

Profile

The successful Despatch Operative will need the following requirements:

  • Must be an effective communicator and be able to develop good working relationships at all levels
  • Positive and flexible attitude to work
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Great attention to detail to ensure documentation is correct and error free
  • PC literate
  • Commutable to Cambridgeshire
