As the Director of Operations you will be responsible for the design and execution of the operations plan and budget to ensure the company meets the overall business plan. Reporting to the UK Managing Director you manage the overall performance of two Regional Distribution Centres, including warehouse operations, transportation, shipping, inventory management and promotional support. Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
Support the warehouse expansion programme with further UK sites to be identified across 2020/21.
Provide strategic and operational leadership and motivation to direct and indirect reports within the Operations Team.
Develop the operations budget, monitor and report on a monthly basis to the executive and the team.
With the executive and sales team plan for future capacity and growth of the supply chain.
Proactively monitor and manage all inbound/ outbound material.
Inventory Management: including but not limited to performing regular cycle counts and monitoring physical inventory.
Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of operation departments in the organisation.
Research and develop new techniques and procedures to increase efficiency and safety in operations.
Responsible for the full supply chain to include planning, warehousing, logistics and transportation.
Recruit, develop, coach and manage the operations team leads across the country.
Monitor, measure, review and report on the financial expectations and results.
Improve processes, systems and policies in support of organisational goals. Formulate and implement departmental and organisational policies and procedures to maximise output. Monitor compliance to rules, regulations and procedures.
Coordinate and monitor the work of various departments and business partners involved in warehousing, pricing and distribution of goods.
Source, negotiate and execute all relevant contacts and pricing with third party providers.
Facilitate coordination and communication between support functions.
The Successful Applicant
The successful Director of Operations will be a logistics and warehousing expert. You will be based within a commuting distance of Enfield and will be able to demonstrate the following experience:
Senior management experience across warehousing and inbound/outbound transportation, preferably in the building materials industry.
Experience within a multi-site logistics operation is a pre-requisite.
Demonstrable experience and management of inventory and inventory controls systems.
Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organisational change and development within a growing organisation.
A commercial approach to operations and an ability to engage senior stakeholders.
Excellent judgement and creative problem solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise.
High degree of business acumen.
Ability to operate as an effective tactical as well as strategic thinker.
Knowledge and experience in organisational effectiveness and operations management.
Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
