Head of Procurement (Manufacturing)

Our client is a consumer goods business who are the absolute market-leaders at what they do. They create products that are some of the most well known available, using only the best material that is long lasting and the highest quality.

With over 500 employees and a global brand, the business is dynamic, innovative and passionate about creating good products. Based in the Hertfordshire area, they are looking to hire a Head of Procurement who can lead a £50m spend across all materials and ensuring excellent supplier relationships across all 20 UK manufacturing sites.


This role will be to manage procurement function with all purchasing and supplier relationship of a variety of manufacturing materials categories. It will be vital that you are able to work to negotiate on major contracts with suppliers, as well as having day to day working with internal stakeholders. The role will also include:

  • Responsible for all spend (£70m) across direct materials and indirect services.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of 5 buyers
  • Diagnose and Develop Cost Down Programme for Indirect and Direct spend
  • Lead and manage internal cross-functional teams to successfully execute and implement strategic sourcing initiatives within the Client's procurement pipeline
  • Liaise and Manage price negotiations with all suppliers to ensure the most competitive price
  • Manage relationships with high level suppliers and develop new relationships with new suppliers
  • Support NPD in the development of new products and advice in achieving product target pricing
  • Work with key business stakeholders to ensure that key elements of the business are protected in terms of operational and commercial positioning


Ideal Candidate:

  • 10 to 15 years professional experience in Procurement
  • Experience in managing both direct materials and indirect services spend categories, delivering significant cost savings
  • Significant experience in strategic sourcing disciplines and the ability to formulate and execute category procurement
  • CIPS qualification/membership would be advantageous
  • Passionate, Innovative & Articulate
  • Strong Stakeholder management skills
  • Degree Educated

Job Offer

up to £80,000 plus benefits and bonus.
