Indirect or Direct Procurement Specialist

This locally based public sector organisation requires a procurement specialist, covering either the indirect or direct categories, to join its team on a short-term contract with the potential for extension. The company is a great investor in its substantial workforce and would be a great opportunity for an experienced procurement professional.

Procurement Specialist Requirements:

  • Significant experience with the end to end procurement process, including OJEU experience, and preferably exposure to the public sector or regulated industries.
  • Proven track record of delivering value for money and competently managing both internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Good academic background, procurement and business-related qualifications including CIPS preferable but not essential.

Procurement Specialist Role:

  • Take a lead on tendering processes, managing key suppliers across indirect and direct categories in order to add value to the procurement function.
  • Act as a point of contact and expert in procurement for the wider business, liaising with other internal departments and managers to ensure consistency and contributing to the wider business aims.
  • Reporting to and working alongside the procurement manager to review current procurement procedures, monitor supplier performance and implement changes.
