IT Vendor Manager

One of the world's leading providers of professional services for engineering and technology have a mandate from board level to invest in vendor management as part of a new target operating model.

Description

Oversight of all ITs relationships and arrangements with third party vendors and suppliers. Ensuring standard procedures and documentation in relation to this are developed, understood and complied with throughout the firm. Bringing a robust standard commercial approach to the negotiation of contracts with third party vendors and suppliers. The role is currently not performed, so there is a need to establish a framework.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Development and maintenance of firm-wide standards, documentation (e.g. for RFPs, due diligence etc.) and processes for the management of entering, maintaining and exiting relationships with third party vendors and suppliers.

  • Establishing and then ensuring firm-wide compliance with Vendor Management Principles and standards (as above).

  • Providing oversight to the Head of IT Procurement and/or CIO of the firm's third party vendor relationships including costs, quality of services and risks.

  • Establishing a standard contract negotiation approach, in conjunction with the Legal department, to ensure the best possible commercial and legal terms are achieved.

  • Planning and leading contract negotiation for all key supplier/service provider relationships.

  • Providing proactive and on-going support to all Business Owners of third party vendor relationships in respect of the management of those relationships (including management of both scheduled and unscheduled contractual events).

  • Ensuring that on-going and measurable improvements are made in respect of the quality of services provided, the costs of those services and a reduction in the contractual and financial risk relating to provision of those services.

The role will be Bracknell or London based.

Profile

  • A good general educational background to degree level or equivalent.

  • Relevant qualifications in respect of procurement, vendor management or supply chain management preferred but not essential.

  • A good working knowledge of how financial services firms contract and are contracted to provide: business processes; IT hardware, software and services; and standard utility services (e.g., telephony, office supplies etc.).

  • Demonstrable experience and achieved outcomes in the planning and execution of contract negotiation.

  • A proven track record of vendor management at all organisational levels.

  • Demonstrable experience of leading, managing and influencing an organisation at all levels.
  • A good working knowledge of how financial services firms contract and are contracted to provide: business processes; IT hardware, software and services; and standard utility services (e.g., telephony, office supplies etc.).

  • Demonstrable experience and achieved outcomes in the planning and execution of contract negotiation.

  • A proven track record of vendor management at all organisational levels.

  • Demonstrable experience of leading, managing and influencing an organisation at all levels.

Job Offer

A temp to perm role, within an organisation who has a board level mandate to drive vendor management. Support from the CIO business and head of IT procurement. A small team so lots of autonomy and business wide stakeholder engagement.
