Logistics Team Leader

Our client is a global industrial manufacturer with multiple UK sites.

Due to a record year last year and a growing order book this role has been created to support the UK Logistics Manager with all transport and distribution duties.

They are looking for a candidate with fire in their belly to come and hit the ground running with this role. There is huge scope for progression and for the right person this will develop into a more senior role.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The day to day running of a busy UK supply chain function will involve the following essential duties and responsibilities;

SAP Management: Proactively search and report on company logistics requirements from an electronic SAP order book.

Quotations: Send RFQ's & combine quotes for Logistics operations to meet Internal / Customer deadlines.

Fulfilling Supplier Orders: Manage an approved supplier list to make live daily logistics bookings for export, import and home trade orders, ensuring SAP transactions are completed in full through to final invoicing. This must be done to due dates and within financial budgets.

Scope of Position Responsibilities

Financial aspects: While not a budget holder, the Logistics Team Leader will be expected to work to strict financial budgets while fulfilling their essential duties. The role will involve controlling and managing spending through use of the company SAP system.

Supervision: The Logistics Team Leader will report to the UK Logistics Manager, while maintaining active involvement with their own personal development plan.

Internal Relationships: This position will require an individual who is able to effectively oversee the daily operations of an in-house import/export team. This will require self-motivation and drive in order to foster good relationships within the team and meet the set weekly targets.

External Relationships: The Logistics Team Leader will regularly liaise with approved suppliers, building strong and measurable relationships.

Working Environment: This office-based role will be situated in Newcastle upon Tyne however the Logistics Team Leader will occasionally be required to travel to other company manufacturing sites and offices when necessary.


  • Extensive knowledge of UK/European and worldwide import and export of goods, processes and documentation.
  • Experience in the global shipping industry, with a proved background in this area
  • Out of gage load management
  • Dealt with freight forwarders and hauliers
  • Knowledge of Incoterms
