Operational Procurement Partner


Brand new roles for 7 Operational Procurement Partners at a leading East Midlands University. 

Hays are working with the University of Nottingham  - a pioneering university that provides an exceptional research-led education  and an outstanding student experience to recruit 7 new roles within their procurement team.

It's an exciting time of change within  the team and currently undergoing a Procurement Transformation programme and these roles are a key part of that. 

The primary focus of your role will be to lead and manage end to end procurement activity with stakeholders in their Faculty or Function for tenders below £100k in a Lean, Simple and Compliant manner, driving savings, developing commercial awareness and improving policy compliance.

You will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with senior stakeholders within the Faculty or Function providing the interface between the Faculty or Function and Central Procurement. As the successful candidate you will require flexibility and strong procurement and stakeholder relationship building to advise stakeholders on compliance with the University Procurement Policy and the latest PCR regulations.

As one of our Operational Procurement Partners, you will be responsible for managing relationships with senior managers, internal stakeholders and key suppliers. You will also manage contracts for devolved spend on goods / services across the University ensuring supplier performance within the Supplier Relationship Management framework. 

 You will offer support and advice to Faculty or Functions regarding negotiations, specification writing and evaluation criteria and provide training on procurement processes, policies systems, procedures and legislations.

What you'll need to succeed 

  • You will be educated to degree level, or equivalent
  • Proven track record of relevant extensive work experience in public sector procurement
  • Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or working towards
  • An evidenced background in a procurement role managing a high volume of tenders involving cross-functional teams and significant experience of large-scale procurements is essential.
