Procurement and Contract Interim


Your new company

Established by the government to be responsible for geological disposal in the UK. They conduct research projects with the international scientific community to establish best practice and then implement this within their projects. They are responsible for developing a geological disposal facility in the UK. The Aim of this organisation is to create a safer future to protect people and the environment.

Your new role

The contractor will lead on the procurement and contract management activities to support the organisations community engagement requirements, working within procurement and contract management processes, and financial delegations. The contractor will work primarily with the Community Engagement team. The contractor will be part of the existing finance team, and may be made available to support wider finance and siting team activities The contractor shall:

  • Ensure procurement is undertaken in compliance with the 2015 Public Procurement Rules
  • Source and supply an Independent Chair to a Working Group
    • Prepare and issue mini tender/appointment documentation
    • Co-ordinate evaluation of responses
    • Prepare contract
    • Prepare purchase order
    • Contract management and reporting support to Community Engagement
  • Source, supply and manage an Independent Facilitator to a Working Group
    • Prepare and issue mini tender/appointment documentation
    • Co-ordinate evaluation of responses
    • Prepare contract
    • Prepare purchase order
    • Contract management and reporting support to Community Engagement
  • Source, supply and manage a Secretariat to a Working Group
    • Prepare and issue mini tender/appointment documentation
    • Co-ordinate evaluation of responses
    • Prepare contract
    • Prepare purchase order
    • Contract management and reporting support to Community Engagement
  • Supply and manage call-off's* for Working Group activities
    • Prepare and issue mini tender/appointment documentation
    • Co-ordinate evaluation of responses
    • Prepare contracts
    • Prepare purchase orders
    • Contract management and reporting support to Community Engagement


What you'll need to succeed

The Contractor should demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • NVQ Level 4 in Purchasing & Supply
  • Good knowledge and understanding of procurement law and practices, particularly EC procurement legislation
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • The ability to manage time to meet external and internal deadlines
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, tact and diplomacy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required as the individual will be expected to communicate at all levels both internally and externally
  • Some travel across England and Wales may be required.
  • will require the contract to be security cleared and vetted to BSSP level.
