Role Purpose

River Dee LIFE Restoration is a £6.8m project funded by the EU LIFE programme, Welsh Government, the Environment Agency, Dwr Cymru/Welsh Water and Snowdonia National Park to transform the river Dee and its catchment in order to restore populations of declining species and habitats. The project aims to help restore populations of salmon, lamprey and freshwater pearl mussels.

You will ensure good governance of the project, including strict adherence to NRW’s procurement and wellbeing, health and safety practices.

It is expected that you will have significant experience procuring goods and services, with experience working on European project desirable.

You will assist the project manager and finance officer in reporting to the EU the progress of the project and assist with visits from the monitoring team as required.  

Qualifications and Skills

  • The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (Full Membership, or working towards)
  • Substantial experience as a Procurement practitioner, in the application of knowledge and the specific requirements of the post.
  • Substantial experience of influencing procurement decisions at a project level.
  • Experience of undertaking and leading procurement exercises, demonstrating success with their delivery
  • Experience of undertaking high level and complex negotiations with supply partners
  • Transferrable experience of using procurement to deliver business objectives.
  • Understanding of procurement concepts, practices, governance & techniques, & maintenance of this through a range of interests & peer group interaction.
