About the Role
Here at Babcock International Group in Rosyth, we are currently looking for a Senior Buyer to join us. We aim to deliver engineering-led and world-leading products and services across our Engineering, Specialised Manufacturing, Gas Handling Systems and Naval Marine business streams.

This role will have responsibility for undertaking specific Strategic procurement activities for a range of Capex Equipment, Services and Goods in support of major facilities projects; this will be from new and existing suppliers and will involve sourcing, tendering and contracting to ensure all is sourced in a timely, cost effective and professional manner to meet schedules and customer demand.

Forming part of the Major Projects area, your key duties will include:

• Developing contract strategies and subsequent contracts for specific equipment/goods/services; designed to ensure best value whilst supporting the business/functional strategy and aims
• Leading and/or supporting the process for tendering of work by suppliers; ensure tender documents are prepared, issued and subsequent submissions are handled professionally.  Returns analysed with evaluations undertaken orchestrating input from key and relevant functional disciplines.  Pursue opportunities, presenting options and recommendations as appropriate
• Leading and/or supporting negotiations with suppliers to ensure that the most effective supply solutions are obtained
• Being responsible for delivering medium/high value, risk and complex contracts in line with business strategy
• Execution of supplier due diligence / on-boarding and qualification processes to ensure selected suppliers are approved and available to trade with
• Ensuring that Babcock’s commercial position is best protected through use of agreed terms and conditions of contract and purchase orders
• Ensure a programme of supplier reviews is carried out (as applicable), such that suppliers and supplier performance is monitored and managed
• Monitoring existing and new contracts/suppliers that are identified as high risk/critical to ensure any KPI’s established as part of the contract are met and undertake corrective action if necessary
   

What do I need to do the role?

• Procurement experience in Major Construction or Facilities Improvement projects
• Experience in tendering for capex equipment, services and goods (both high and low value) – ability to prepare, execute and evaluate presenting a summary to a range of stakeholders
• IT skills (Microsoft Office package – PowerPoint, Word, Excel.  SAP or similar MRP system)

• MCIPS qualified, or studying towards – desirable
• Knowledge of NEC Contract terms – desirable
   

What else do I need to know?
You should hold or have the ability to obtain full SC clearance
