Specialist Public Procurement Officer

A friendly and forward-thinking public sector organisation requires an experienced and personable procurement specialist to join their busy team in light of new and exciting challenges. The successful individual will act as a point of contact across the organisation for all thing's public procurement, including but not limited to taking a lead on high value tenders, driving compliance both with internal and external regulations whilst helping in maintaining strong supplier relationships.

The role will involve delivering a high-class procurement function whilst also achieving value for money and managing internal and external stakeholders. This post would suit someone with experience of public sector procurement processes, previous experience undertaking projects both above and below the OJEU threshold and experience managing contracts and supplier relationships.

Specialist Public Procurement Officer Requirements:

  • Significant experience with the end to end procurement process including running competitive tenders, OJEU experience, and preferably exposure to the public sector and/or regulated industries.
  • Proven track record of delivering value for money and competently managing both internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Good academic background, procurement and business-related qualifications including CIPS preferable but not essential.

Specialist Public Procurement Officer Role:

  • Take a lead on tendering processes, managing key suppliers across indirect and direct categories in order to add value to the procurement function.
  • Provide crucial advice and guidance to management across the organisation on the implementation of new procurement projects including e-procurement initiatives and auditing of key suppliers.
  • Act as a point of contact and expert in procurement for the wider business, liaising with other internal departments and managers to ensure consistency and contributing to the wider business aims.
  • Reporting to and working alongside the procurement manager to review current procurement procedures, monitor supplier performance and implement changes.
