Supply Chain Director Europe

Our client is a leading global automotive manufacturing organisation


Primary Responsibilities:Assist and audit the plants on the safe operation of the plants material handling equipment in accordance with published plant and corporate guidelines for:Fork Lifts, Tuggers, Docks, dock locks, chocks, doors, plates, Switchers, trucks and trailers, Storage, racking and warehousing

*Develop CI actions to ensure compliance

*Develop a team that has mastered the use of the ERP system, 'lean manufacturing' tools, customer systems and Supply Chain Management processes to support the requirements of both our internal and external customers; 'the right part, in the right place, at the right time, in the right quantity for the right cost'

*Oversee the SCM team to ensure both customer and internal metrics are maintained at acceptable levels and a proper continuous improvement plan with defined actions, responsibilities and delivery dates that are clearly understood by the team

*Ensure the plant has a solid, documented continuous improvement plan

*Lead the plants on the implementation of the SCM BASIACs; understand the gaps and implement a continuous improvement plan with defined actions, responsibilities and delivery dates exist that are clearly understood by the team

*Support the corporate logistics team on cost saving initiatives, achievement of logistics budgets and the implementation of the logistics plan

*Support the CI process as it relates to inventory levels; ensuring the plant teams are trained in the use of the tools to ensure the right parts are ordered, obsolescence is identified, accrued and disposed of and DOH / turn objectives are achieved

*Assist the plants in the physical inventory & cycle count process, ensuring alignment with corporate policy and true root cause analysis with permanent corrective action is taking place

*Support the SCM team and the CI process to ensure 100% on time delivery to the customer and develop CI actions for all issues preventing achievement of the objective

*Support the SCM team and Corporate Purchasing to ensure 100% OTD for purchased goods and ensure CI actions are developed for any issue preventing achievement of the objectiveAssist the plants with the implementation of a proper escalation process with increasing levels of communication, both internal and external, ensuring that both internal leadership and the external customer are aware of any potential delays to shipment prior to their occurrence

*Assist the plants with the deployment of PFEP, LRP, Escalation and other corporate tools


  • A proven background in leading a supply chain function within a multi-site manufacturing organisation (ideally covering EU / International sites, automotive would be an advantage but isn't essential)
  • Experience of applying lean manufacturing tools & techniques such as Kanban, PFEP, Water Spider Routing etc
  • MCIPS or equivalent is highly desirable but not essential
  • A strong, inspirational leadership style that delivers exceptional results through teams
  • Previous experience working with ERP systems such as QAD, MFG Pro, SAP
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time around Europe
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to analyse, explain and draw logical conclusions from a variety of data, including operational, financial, regulatory and business specific
