Transport Supervisor

The client I'm representing are a leading distributor of exotic foods, supplying wholesalers, restaurants and independent business across the UK. Due to growth they recently relocated and are now looking for an experienced Transport Supervisor.

Description

As the Transport Supervisor you'll have the following responsibilities:

Monitor Driver's Movements and queries: Monitor collection points and drop off points. Look for movement against time scales and restraints. Deal with any calls about payment or drop off queries which may occur.

Vehicle maintenance, services and repairs: Arrange repairs for vehicle faults occurred during transportation i.e mechanical, windscreens and bodywork. Organising scheduled services and repairs whilst incorporating and considering scheduled workload. Check all vehicle external condition upon return against drivers documented check information.

Agency staff requirement assessment and request: Liaise with agency companies regarding calculated required staff to cover next day forecast workload inclusive of manual handling staff and driver requirements.

Driver routing coordination: Matching vans with relevant routes. Planning customer drop offs using relevant geographical area information and store opening times. Instruct drivers of departure times from site. Putting together the invoice packs for the driver's routes. Writing van and picking routes up on the board for night shift and driver information for the following days deliveries. Liaise with agency staff for any additional driver requirements.

Drivers transport kit: Checking the driver's kit upon return to sight. Making sure keys, fuel card, phone and receipts are all returned correctly.

Tachograph cards: Scan 7.5 or class 2 driver's tacho's to the system when required.

Collate important documents for forward: Putting together all daily information ect. invoices, agency time sheets, driver routing, delivery/collection documents, stock lists and banking summaries then record and scan to the relevant department or organisation.

Handover: Document any relevant information for night shift including customer orders, stock issues, manning issues, equipment issues and transport issues ect.

Drivers transport kit: Checking the driver's kit upon return to sight. Making sure keys, fuel card, phone and receipts are all returned correctly.

Tachograph cards: Scan 7.5 or class 2 driver's tacho's to the system when required.

Staff training: Participate in any ongoing staff training as required.

Profile

The successful candidate for the Transport Supervisor role will have ideally gained experience in a similar position, managing a fleet or drivers with full UK coverage. Below are some of the requirements:

  • IT Literate
  • Previous experience managing drivers
  • Route setting experience
  • Operational experience
  • Managed an array of vehicles - sprinters, 7.5 tonne, 18 tonne.
