Job Description

The UK Groupage Product Manager will be responsible for the profitable growth and development of existent and new groupage business, both UK inbound and outbound. In addition you will manage the London branch in compliance with systems and procedures on a country and group level.

Key responsibilities can be further broken down as follows:

Groupage

  • Ensure that the UK branches are fully inline and compliant with the groupage overall strategy, operational requirements and performance
  • Identify and implement process improvements to ensure high efficiency and productivity in the branch and groupage product group of UK;
  • Review and develop the new Agency network strategy and manage relationships with our groupage Partners
  • Actively identify and pursue commercial opportunities in addition to managing the allocated portfolio in order to achieve and to exceed agreed targets;
  • Oversee the development and delivery of proposals, tenders, quotations and product/service presentations;
  • Be responsible for trade lane profitability;
     

Branch Management

  • Organise and supervise the Branch Operations and administration departments, monitoring performances and making necessary adjustments to ensure efficiency and financial results
  • Manage day-to-day issues within Branch and ensure the smooth flow of information across the group
  • Implement operational setup changes in order to ensure maximum efficiency, taking into account any suggestions arriving from department-supervisors and other staff members;
  • Prepare yearly budgets for the branch, and monitor fulfilment of it month-by month;
  • Monitor market changes and implement price changes accordingly.
  • Monitor buying prices, and ensure their competitiveness by negotiating directly with suppliers
  • Manage internal relationships with other branches and senior management including the preparation of reports and presentations on any material requested about the Branch
     

You will join a forward thinking and dynamic business which can demonstrate continued growth in this sector but still has further ambitions to take market share. The business operates a flat structure and you will work closely with senior stakeholders of the business. As you establish yourself within the business there could be opportunities to progress further within the Group exploring new markets across Europe.
 

The Successful Applicant

We are looking to speak to candidates that can develop a strategy for the implementation of new processes, products and services for groupage. You will need to be able to demonstrate a track record of achieving profitable growth through high performance standards and maximising the profitability of the trade lanes alongside the ability to identify, report on, develop and monitor new business opportunities. A strong knowledge of competitors in this space will be advantageous.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Previous groupage experience is essential
  • Management of branch compliance and service levels within a logistics operation
  • Ownership of budgets including the monitoring of turnover, gross profit and net profit
  • A strong track record in identifying and delivering commercial opportunities
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent man management and leadership qualities.
